Welcome to the brand new website for Project MIDAS, a UK-based Antarctic research project, aimed at understanding the effects of increased melting on the Larsen C ice shelf, West Antarctica.
In October 2015, a team of five MIDAS researchers will be travelling to Antarctica for a six-week field campaign. There, they will drill boreholes to make never-before-seen measurements of the interior of the ice shelf. There will also be an extensive campaign of radar and seismic work, to map the internal structure of the ice shelf.
Through this website, you’ll be able to follow the progress of the project through the 2015 field season and beyond. If you have any questions or comments on the project, you can get in touch, either by email or through our Twitter or Facebook accounts.
